There are only 2 days left to the start of the Cortina 2021 Ski World Championships and the State Police has reached the Ampezzo valley with its departments and specialties, where women and men in uniform will be engaged to ensure the safety of the great sporting event , the first of this magnitude in a pandemic era.
The Police Commissioner of Belluno Lilia Fredella will coordinate the safety device, which will also involve the Arma dei Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza. The aggregate personnel will be engaged in the control of the territory, in the surveillance of sensitive targets, supported by dog lovers, bomb squads, UOPI (Emergency Response Operational Units) teams, by the mountain safety and rescue service, by select shooters, by Mobile Departments, all supported. by an imposing logistic machine.
Each operator, subject to a strict health protocol, will be called upon to guarantee efficiency and safety, in compliance with anti-Covid regulations. Operational coordination will be managed by an inter-force operations room set up at the Cortina d'Ampezzo Commissariat, the nerve center and operational heart of the World Cup.
During the opening ceremony on Sunday evening 7 February, the former athlete of the Fiamme Oro Wendy Siorpaes, under the Commissariat of Cortina, will have the honor of being the Italian standard-bearer. The policewoman will also be the judge, together with the world champion Kristian Ghedina, of the “Champions of tomorrow” format, created by Rai due on the Cortina d'Ampezzo tracks and conducted by Massimiliano Ossini. The program will be broadcast from 9 to 19 February, and will feature young boys from 16 Italian Ski Clubs who will compete in a timed ski descent and on questions of general culture related to the world of the mountains.
The State Police, together with the other police forces, will be present at the awards ceremony for the races on the calendar, the flag raising and the salute.
During the event, the Police Headquarters of Belluno, through the radio broadcaster "Radiopiù", will introduce the various specialties of the State Police present in Cortina 2021, with short audio, video and photos that will also be shared on the following official social platforms : Facebook Police Headquarters of Belluno, Instagram and Twitter, in addition to the institutional website.
