7.500 fighters ready for the battle of Idlib

According to reports from the Arab newspaper, based in London, al-Hayat, at least 7.500 fighters from the militias financed by Iran and the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah are moving towards the front of the northern Syrian province of Idlib, to participate in a ground operation against the last stronghold of the rebels not financed by the West.

According to the Arab newspaper, from 27 August, Imam Hussein's Brigade, a militia composed largely of Iraqi and Afghan recruits financed by Tehran, is converging on Idlib to participate in the battle that will develop on three lines of attack: from Aleppo's southern countryside, on the eastern border of Idlib, from the south of the province towards Khan Sheikoun and from the western mountains between the governorate and the Russian base near Latakia.

The United Nations Security Council will meet today to discuss again the dramatic situation in the northern Syrian province, where the UN fears the "worst humanitarian catastrophe" of the century could occur if the Damascus regime decides to launch the offensive.

The meeting will focus on the results of the trilateral summit held last Friday in Tehran between Iran, Russia and Turkey which ended highlighting a rift between Russia, which favors the military option, and Turkey, which has proposed a ceasefire in Idlib, supported by Iran and denouncing a possible "humanitarian disaster".
