60% of resources to peripheral and disadvantaged areas to recover existing gaps

Resources for a total of 700 million euros to be allocated to Municipalities for the safety, renovation, redevelopment, conversion or construction of buildings for nurseries, kindergartens and multifunctional centers for family services. The public notice that was issued jointly today by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of the Interior, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and with the Department for Family Policies, provides for it, and is intended for public bodies. locals.
The Notice will make it possible to distribute the resources allocated in 2019, with the Budget Law for 2020, available from 2021. Priority will be given to projects that will concern disadvantaged areas and urban peripheries, providing for interventions in territories where today there are fewer opportunities for girls and boys and their families.
“With this provision, resources are freed up to begin to fill one of the most significant structural gaps in our country - says the Minister of Education, Professor Patrizio Bianchi -. Strengthening nursery schools and childcare services means not only giving more educational opportunities to girls and boys, reducing social and territorial inequalities, but also concretely promoting female employment. It is a strategic investment that is also an important component in our Recovery Plan ”, he concludes.
The 700 million are divided as follows: 280 million will concern nurseries; 175 preschools; 105 multipurpose centers for family services, 140 million for the reconversion of preschool spaces currently unused. 60% of the resources of each of these chapters will be allocated to peripheral and disadvantaged areas, to recover existing gaps.
Applications can be submitted exclusively online, by 21 May 2021, on the website of the Ministry of Education, on the page dedicated to school construction.
