In school, 85 percent of teachers are women

Bellanova ad Azzolina: “85 per cent of the teachers in the school are women. But the #maestri program seems to ignore it starting from the title. Change of pace required "

If 85 percent of teachers are women in the school, because right from the title, the #maestri program produced by Rai Cultura in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and aired on Rai3 starting from last April 27 does not adequately take this into account ?

This is the reason for the letter that Minister Teresa Bellanova sent to the colleague of the Institution Lucia Azzolinana in these hours, urging a change of pace "not only desirable as necessary"

“That hashtag”, Bellanova writes, “is characterized by a subtext that we could summarize: praise of the male. And not only for the way in which the very talented Edoardo Camurri illustrating the 40 episodes speaks exclusively, referring to the guests, of "professors, experts, disseminators". Almost that the plural feminine has no rights of existence in life. I am referring precisely to the title of the broadcast which I obviously do not judge, on the contrary, the formative and communicative objectives and, for this reason, I ask myself about texts that elude the substantial presence of women and the female component, moreover in one area, that of training, in fact, where women represent the absolute majority, with percentages around 85 percent. So much so that many observers are encouraged to solicit male gender equality in the school ”.

It's still. “I point it out,” continues Bellanova, “because I have received and continue to receive messages from female teachers of all levels and degrees who urge a change of course or, at the very least, a recognition of gender consistent with the reality of things. Because I believe that at this very particular moment it is women who have given and are at risk of being more forced as they could be, if an adequate network of territorial services is not guaranteed and primary schools will not be able to leave as soon as possible, to choose between care and employment.

Because I believe it is necessary to recognize and adequately underline the enormous contribution "of the teachers" to the human and professional stories of each and every one of us ".

To conclude: "I am sure that together with the authors of the Program the correct corrections can be made, where possible, so that the Government and the public service can remedy such a serious forgetfulness".
