Bliz in Mali, killed at least six soldiers

According to what was communicated by the African country's army on their Twitter account, unidentified armed men, during a bliz operated yesterday night, killed at least six soldiers and injured others in an unknown number.

The blitz took place in central Mali in Diongani, in the Mopti region on the border with Burkina Faso.

Mali has been under attack since 2012, when Islamist fighters conquered the north of the country. Insecurity continues and violence has spread to other countries in the region. Mali - along with Burkina Faso, Chad, Niger and Mauritania - is part of a French-backed anti-insurgency force known as the G5 Sahel.
