The Carabinieri for the Protection of Health in Abruzzo have inspected a sheep farm located in the Marsica, noting that, for the use, stocks of medicines for veterinary use were held, without the required authorization and in the absence of any medical-veterinary prescription in addition to the detention of drugs for veterinary use without making the necessary records for the treatments carried out and to be performed.
The discovery of the NAS required the joint intervention with the veterinary hygiene service of the farms and zootechnical productions of the competent ASL with which the seizure of 7 bottles of different types of medicinal products, and in part already used, was operated, as well as the constraint of the entire sheep farm composed of a total of 271 heads for subsequent investigations, including analytical tests on animals.
The attention of the NAS to the correct practices of administration and suspension of veterinary medicines, is aimed at avoiding that, from the meat supply chain, meat containing residues of medicines and antibiotics can reach the table.
