Arrested in the Dominican Republic Marcello Battipaglia convicted of drug trafficking and evasion

On Saturday 20 October, in the Dominican Republic, following investigations by the State Police, BATTIGAGLIA Marcello, 75 years old, was arrested.

The investigations conducted by the Central Operations Service and by the Como Mobile Team with the collaboration of the Central Department of Anti-Drug Services and the Direcciòn Nacional de Control de Drogas of the Dominican Police have allowed to identify the man in El Vigiador, province of Montecristo, from where according to the investigators BATTIGAGLIA managed cocaine traffic to Italy, in particular to the provinces of Milan, Monza and Como.

The man is the recipient of a provision of enforcement of concurrent sentences and contextual execution order, issued by the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Milan in 2017 and must discount 16 years, 10 months and 23 days of imprisonment in addition to the fine of 98.000 € for international drug trafficking and evasion It is considered the promoter of a criminal association active in Lombardy and dedicated to the import of large quantities of cocaine: the investigations have made it possible to ascertain that the BATTIGAGLIA was in contact, in particular, with Calabrian criminal groups as well Latin Americans.

In 2006 BATTIGAGLIA Marcello had already been arrested in Zagreb (Croatia) for importing 3,1 kg of cocaine from Caracas (Venezuela).

In 2010, as part of the "Famiglia Molluso" operation of the Milan Mobile Squad, he had been arrested as a cocaine supplier who imported from South America by ship through the port of Vado Ligure (SV).

In 2012, obtained the house arrest, it had become untraceable.

In 2013, as part of the “Fly85” operation conducted by the Turin Guardia di Finanza, he was arrested again in execution of a custody order in prison for international drug trafficking.

Also in this case, obtained the house arrest in the 2015, it had immediately become untraceable.

The BATTIGAGLIA will arrive in Italy, escorted by staff of the Central Operations Service and by the Dominican Police, at today's 12,35 on Monday 22 October.
