Lebanon: Training provided by our military to local Lebanese forces is fundamental

The training activity conducted by Italian instructors in favor of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) continues as part of the Unifil mission. About twenty graduates and non-commissioned officers of the local forces, under the guidance of the instructors of the 183 "Nembo" Parachute Regiment, faced theoretical and practical aspects relating to the characteristics of use of individual weapons such as the Colt M4 4 rifle and the Beretta PX Storm pistol and on compliance with safety standards and technical procedures for dynamic and operational shooting.

This is the first course "Weapon Handling and Shooting Techniques" administered to the Lebanese armed forces by the peacekeepers of the Italian-led battalion ITALBAT, a maneuver Task Force, located at the Al Mansouri base and advanced operational sites.

ITALBAT, together with the Battle Groups of other nations, contributes to the control of the Blue Line and the territory of southern Lebanon in assistance to the Lebanese armed forces. ITALBAT assets are equipped with armored vehicles, VTLM Lince and Armata Centauro Blindo. The courses are fundamental because, in addition to guaranteeing greater preparation from an operational point of view, improving the level of training of military personnel, on techniques and procedures aimed at a practical, safe and defensive use of weapons, they strengthen the synergy between departments of the “Folgore” and the Lebanese armed forces which, as part of the Unifil mission, always operate in a joint and coordinated manner to maintain the conditions of stability in the southern area of the country.

Joint training between Italian peacekeepers and LAF, in addition to representing a fundamental aspect to be able to operate at maximum capacity and in safety, remains one of the most important elements of the UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon) mission to continue to guarantee the stability of the area.
