Polizia di Stato and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA sign an agreement against cybercrimes

The agreement between the State Police and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA was signed today in Rome for the prevention and combating of cybercrime related to possible threats on the management systems of banking, home banking and monetary Group.

The agreement, signed by the Chief of Police - Director General of Public Security - Franco Gabrielli and by the Chief Executive Officer of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena Marco Morelli, falls within the safety objectives set out in the decree of the Minister of the Interior of 9 January of 2008. The protection of critical computerized infrastructures of national interest is now a priority for operators providing essential services for the country and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena has also adapted to the new needs for the protection of its IT systems and networks telecommunication systems used in order to guarantee high security thresholds for financial transactions, especially virtual ones, of its customers.

From this point of view, the strengthening of operational synergy with the State Police undoubtedly represents an effective instrument for managing cybercrime. Concretely, the technical support will be assured by the National Anti-Crime Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (CNAIPIC) of the Postal and Communications Police Service, which for years has been involved in the protection of IT networks, both public and private, of importance strategic for the country.

Risk analysis, information exchange, forecasting reports on the evolution of cybercrime, management of events and critical situations through the h24 operating room: these are some of the collaboration initiatives envisaged by the agreement, aimed at ensuring structured and timely interventions.

At the signing of the agreement were present for the Department of Public Security, Roberto Sgalla, Central Director for the Traffic Police, Railway, Communications and Special Departments of the State Police and Nunzia Ciardi Director of the Postal and Communications Police Service, by Bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA Enrico Grazzini, Chief Operating Officer and Piero Vannetti, Head of the Integrated Safety Area.
