State Police: arrested at Fiumicino exponent of the Ndrangheta Commissioner

This morning, at the Rome-Fiumicino airport, the State Police has arrested Tito FIGLIOMENI, of 49 years, exponent of the gang of the `ndrangheta COMMISSO of Siderno (RC).

The policemen of the Central Operational Service and of the Reggio Calabria Mobile Squad arrested him as the recipient of a precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the Judge of Preliminary Investigations of Reggio Calabria, for mafia-type association and fictitious registration of assets in the ´ as part of the “Common Good” operation of December 2010, coordinated by the magistrates of the Public Prosecutor of Reggio Calabria.

FIGLIOMENI, a fugitive since December 2010, arrived in Fiumicino aboard an intercontinental flight from Toronto. He had left Italy in September 2010, a few months before the “Bene Comune” operation, and after his entry into Canada, he permanently resided in the Greater Toronto Area, making use of a dense network of logistical support. In this way, he escaped arrest, residing in Canada in a state of irregularity and using false personal details to prevent his identification and consequent expulsion to Italy.
