Floods that hit Jiangxi's Poyang County have brought the water level of China's Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake, to over 22,52 meters, a historic high and well above the warning level. set at 19,50 meters.

On Saturday evening, the provincial military authorities sent thousands of soldiers to reinforce and support the lake's embankments for nearly 9 km to prevent them from exploding.
