The Genoa State Police subjected a 35-year-old Moroccan to arrest of PG for evasion, receiving stolen goods and aggravated robbery, the latter crime in conjunction with the 27-year-old companion who was instead reported in a state of freedom, including for personal injury.
The two subjects arrived aboard a stolen scooter near an apartment building and identified the victim, an 86-year-old Genoese elderly limp on his way home.
The woman waited for the elderly man to enter the building, and then called his attention by knocking from the outside to be opened and to carry out the robbery by stealing his mobile phone and purse.
Despite his age and precarious health conditions, the elderly man tried to stop her by triggering an aggressive reaction during which he was pushed and hit by the 35-year-old who had intervened in the meantime.
Both then disappeared on foot, leaving the victim traumatized and with numerous bruises on the face and head for which he was medicated and judged curable in 5 days.
Despite the traumatic event, the elderly man still managed to provide the police with a detailed description of both robbers and shortly after the woman was recognized and stopped by a policeman from the San Fruttuoso police station, and confessed to the crime by accompanying the agents in a nearby alley to retrieve the bag from which, however, 300 euros were missing.
The policemen, determined in wanting to track down the accomplice, continued their activity relentlessly, acquiring images from the numerous video surveillance cameras in the area, thus recognizing the man's face.
The same man had already been arrested on 2 August for a robbery committed with the "embrace" technique against another elderly person.
The 35-year-old was tracked down to his partner's home still wearing the clothes used for the robbery.
Having the police operated outside the flagrant nature of the crime, the man (whose position revealed, contrary to his partner, a danger of escape) was arrested by PG and accompanied to the Marassi prison. The stolen motorcycle, found near via Manuzio, was also returned to its rightful owner.
