Salvini joins the movement "The Movement" launched by Steve Bannon, Trump's former strategist

Matteo Salvini joined "The Movement“, A group founded by Steve Bannon, which aims to launch a right-wing revolution in Europe.

Salvini's membership is the first victory for Donald J. Trump's former strategist and gives legitimacy to the project. Previously, in fact, Bannon had not been taken seriously and for now there were no subscriptions. The decision of the Northern League leader, explains The New York Times, will lead other Eurosceptic parties to join.

In an interview in Rome, Bannon said he and Salvini talked for more than an hour about how his new Brussels-based organization can help populist leaders ahead of the 2019 European Championships. Furthermore, he said he will offer “The fundamentals to win”, including the analysis of surveys and data and aids in the field of communication.

“Having Salvini on board will clearly show that this is the right place for the unification of the populist movement in Europe,” said Mischaël Modrikamen, executive director of the new Bannon organization. Modrikamen attended the meeting with Salvini, as did Jeff Kwatinetz, Bannon's former partner and a powerful talent manager.

Bannon and Modrikamen described Salvini as enthusiastic about their project and eager to work more closely with populist leaders across the continent, such as those of Hungary, Austria, Poland, Finland or Denmark.

Meloni, leader of Fratelli d'Italia, said she too intends to join Bannon's group.
