Libya, a highway built by Italy according to 2008 agreements

The Italian ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, asked for a security plan that would guarantee the security of the company that will carry out the work of "The Alternative Road" (Sahili) which extends from Imsaad to Marij in eastern Libya.
The statements came in a meeting between the transport minister Milad Ma'atoug and the Italian ambassador in Tripoli in the presence of the director of the Imsaad-Ras Ajadir motorway project Sami Al-Sadi. The news is reported on The Lybian Observer.
The meeting was intended for the launch of the Alternative Road project with the Italian company.
The press office of the Ministry of Transport has declared that the meeting will lead to a new meeting in the coming days for the revision of security measures, adding that the ambassador stressed the need for serious security plans.
The new road project covers the area from Imsaad in the Far East of Libya to Ras Ajdair in its far west. Libya has delivered the project to Italy as part of the Italian employment compensation agreement which is part of the 2008 Italy-Libya Friendship Agreement.
