1 million dollars for cybernetic weapons: the amount requested by a Russian for compromising NSA material and Trump

US security personnel reportedly paid at least $ 100 to an unidentified Russian who promised compromising material about US President Donald Trump. The investigation was reported in the New York Times, in an article explaining that it was a scam because the information was "unverified and most likely invented".

The agreement, reached after months of confidential negotiations, included the delivery of stolen cyber weapons to the National Security Agency (NSA) and a compromising dossier on the billionaire who allegedly proved his ties to Russia through his staff.

Revealing it to the New York Times were the same officials of American and European intelligence. The suitcase, with cash money, would be delivered to a hotel in Berlin last September, as an advance payment of a million dollars.

According to agency officials, US spies did not want the material about Trump but were interested in the tools used for hacking the NSA. The Russian was suspected of having links with Moscow intelligence and an Eastern European cybercriminal network. The United States eventually terminated the deal after suspecting it was a Moscow-crafted operation.
