Everything is ready at the “Terrazza del Pincio” where, from 11:00, the celebrations for the 166th anniversary of the foundation of the State Police will begin, an event open to the public again this year.
During the ceremony there will be numerous honors and rewards that will be awarded, among them the gold medal for civil merit, granted by the President of the Republic to the Flag of the State Police, for the work of the Scientific Police that, with constant commitment and high professionalism, ensuring increasingly efficient safety standards to protect the principles of freedom that inspire our democracy, has carried out the technical-scientific services related to the protection of public order and the fight against the terrorist threat, as well as the activities specifications related to the phenomenon of migration and the implementation of inspections for the search for evidence, for the identification of the perpetrators and for the fight against crime.
The anniversary will be the occasion to present the new distinctive signs of qualification that, exalting the nature of the State Police as a civil institution, mark the definitive abandonment of military degrees.
The event, which will be concluded by a performance by the State Police Band, which celebrates its 2018th anniversary in 90, can be followed through the live broadcast which will be broadcast on the "Polizia di Stato" Facebook account and on the website www.poliziadistato.it, as well as through live twitting from the @poliziadistato account with the hashtag #AnniversarioPolizia.
Finally, as usual, at the Quirinale, at 16.00, will be held the evocative changing of the guard with the squadron on horseback in historical-Risorgimento uniform and the Band of the State Police, which will perform a concert with some of the most significant pieces of the repertoire institutional.
