Paolo Gentiloni, Prime Minister, speaking at the Farnesina during the international conference in support of the Lebanese security forces said: "Supporting Lebanon in this process of institutional consolidation is essential, but we must be aware that our contribution must be based on a regional approach that takes into account the multiple existing challenges and places our action in the context of a strategy for sustainable development, not only in Lebanon but in the entire Mediterranean. Lebanon must be sheltered from destabilization pressures, ensuring the stability of this country for its history, its characteristics, its geographical position is fundamental to favor the broader stability of the Mediterranean and for us Europeans ”.
The president then added: “Lebanon is at the center of the Mediterranean, and bearing in mind all this, Italy has always invested with conviction in the wonderful land of cedars. Italy has historical and close relations with Lebanon from every point of view and I hope this is an opportunity to further strengthen them and make a contribution to the involvement of the international community. We are ready to do our part, continuing to ensure the contribution to the stability of the country is a strategic choice to contribute to the peace of this country and of the whole world ”.
