🎤Police: Operation "Talassa" took place from 12 to 15 February

From the 12 to the 17 last February the "Talassa" operation took place in the main national ports, coordinated by the Central Directorate of Immigration and Border Police, aimed at identifying the main routes used by irregular migrants to reach Italy, as well engage in activities to combat international terrorism and cross-border crime.

The operational device, implemented and coordinated by the Border Police, in close synergy with the Guardia di Finanza, Customs Agency and Harbor Master's Office and the help of the Traffic Police, made it possible to check 12.026 people and 2.235 vehicles, reject 22 irregular migrants, arrest 4 people for crimes related to cross-border crime and investigate 17, as well as track down 10 illegal immigrants hidden in the trucks, through the use of heartbeat and carbon dioxide detection equipment and scanning heavy vehicles and containers.

In particular in the port of Genoa, the Border Police and the local Mobile Squad, coordinated by the Central Directorate of Anti-Drug Services, proceeded to seize 297 kg of cocaine hidden on board a Maltese ship.

The operational activity, also supported by the FRONTEX Agency and the EUROPOL operating room, has allowed us to confirm the effectiveness of the law enforcement services in place in Italian ports.
