Energy: the Trisaia ENEA research center will also participate in the BRISK 2 project for the search for biofuels

The European project BRISK 2 - Biofuel Research Infrastructure for Sharing Knowledge - which will last approximately 5 years, will see the participation of 15 partners between universities, research bodies and industries of 11 European countries. For Italy, in addition to the Turin Polytechnic, the Trisaia Research Center ENEA (Matera) will also participate, a center of excellence for applied research and a point of reference for Southern Italy.

The center, whose main objectives are to consolidate existing communication activities and implement new ones, has excellent infrastructures such as, for example, the pilot station for gasification, the facilities for the extraction of sugars and natural polymers. from plant biomass and, technologies for the separation of ultrapure hydrogen.

The BRISK 2 project, funded with 10 million under Horizon 2020 will aim to:

  • optimize the use of the research infrastructures of the various partners, so as to reduce the possibility of underuse;
  • increase the networking and scientific collaboration activities in the bioenergy sector, which, through a coordinated development of biofuel research, aims to create a network of high-level European infrastructures.
