Apple: testing of the new MicroLED displays starts

According to reports from Bloomberg, Apple Inc is developing and testing new displays for its MicroLED devices, which may damage China-made display suppliers.

MicroLED is a new display technology that has attracted the attention of several technology companies. Screens that use MicroLED are thinner, brighter, consume less power and are more durable than OLED screens that are increasingly being used for a variety of smart devices.

Bloomberg added that Apple is developing MicroLED screens in a secret facility in California in a project supervised by Lynn Youngs, who deals with iPhone and Apple Watch screen technology.

The company intends to begin using this new technology on laptops, adding that it is unlikely to be used on an iPhone before three to five years.

The Dongbu Securities analyst SR Kwon, however, raised doubts about the quality of this technology and said: "It is not clear if MicroLED will be better than the OLED displays that Apple uses for its smartwatches. At this point, it seems to me that Apple wants to show off - it is more than what we see what we can do rather than a realistic alternative ".

Following the announcement made on Monday, the shares of the Asian display producers plummeted to reduce losses at the end of the day; The shares of Sharp Corp, Japan Display Inc and LG Display Co Ltd closed the day between 1,6% and 2,4% less.
