Aeronautica Militare: Weather - the new pages dedicated to the sea

A new section devoted entirely to detailed forecasts of sea conditions around Italy will land on the Military Air Force Meteorological Portal (www.meteoam.it). In fact, for a few days, job-seekers and ordinary citizens have access to and consult new high resolution maps aimed at further enriching the meteorological information offering of interest to the world of maritime navigation within the Mediterranean basin.

The new page - accessible at the link:

Has been implemented in interactive mode and allows you to choose the combination of parameters that you want to consult between the state of the sea, the height, the period and the direction of the wave, as well as the direction and wind intensity, by simply selecting the Interest basin directly on the map and displaying animated sequential forecast maps. All with a spatial detail that maximizes the resolution currently possible with the "Neptune" system, the numerical forecast model for the sea used by the Military Air Force Meteorological Service.

This new addition is added to what is already available in the section of the seafront site, populated with four daily updates of the Sea Bulletin, and nine Burrasca's alerts, with three-day sea-view charts and satellite measurements Surface temperatures.

The Neptune system, implemented by the Meteorological Service of the Italian Air Force as part of a collaboration with the ISMAR (Institute of Marine Sciences) - CNR of Venice, is based on the numerical wave model called WAM (WAve Model) and on the COSMO atmospheric model. (to determine the spatial and temporal distribution of the wave motion) and is the basis of all the meteorological forecasting activities of the Bodies and Departments of the weather sector of the Air Force.
