Coldiretti: climate change has encouraged the production of new crops made in Italy

In commenting the new entries in the new ISTAT price basket, Coldiretti announced that with the changes in climate, along with the production of various exotic fruits, such as bananas, the mango and avocado cultivations Made in Italy also arrived.

In fact, with the tendency to overheating there has been a significant shift in the traditional cultivation area of ​​some crops over time. Today in Sicily there are one hundred hectares planted with avocado, dozens with mangoes in the countryside between Messina, Etna and Acireale and in Calabria dozens of other tropical fruit plants are being born.

Extraordinary qualitative results for the exotic fruits to zero kilometers that see many young farmers engaged in cultivation. According to a study conducted by Coldiretti, almost 90% of Italians consider the national origin of the products they buy to be important because they guarantee freshness and food safety.

In fact, Italy is the country with the lowest number of agri-food products with irregular chemical residues (0,5%), 3,2 times lower than the European Union average (1,7%) and 12 times lower than that of non-EU countries (5,6%).
