Dimdex 2018 (Defense International Maritime Exhibition and Conference) opens today the important biennial event inaugurated in the presence of the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The participation of the Italian industry was wide and excellent with Aiad, Leonardo, Fincantieri, Mbda, Intermarine, Elettronica, Beretta Fabbrica d'Armi, Gem Elettronica, Benelli Armi. The Italian Ambassador to Doha Pasquale Salzano highlighted the importance of the event: "Defense Minister Roberta Pinotti will be in Doha for the second time, after the mission last October, as proof of the strengthening of institutional and industrial cooperation between Italy and Qatar also in the strategic defense sector ".
During Dimdex 2018 the Italian Marine and Qatarina will carry out joint exercises and further activities will be hosted on board the Italian frigate Carlo Margottini, who arrived for the occasion in Doha. Launched the 29 June 2013 by Fincantieri and delivered to the Italian Navy the 27 February 2014, the Margottini is a symbol of the excellence of the national defense industry, third of the European Multi Mission Missions and second in the Anti Submarine Warfare class. On the sidelines of Dimdex 2018 will be held at the Katara Center the photo exhibition "Italian Excellency at Sea. Italian Navy and Fincantieri Shipbuilding, people, technology and design", promoted by the Italian Navy and Fincantieri, under the patronage of the Italian Embassy .
