Drone spies from Sicily to the Russian borders

(by Franco Iacch) Spy drone took off from Sicily on a mission close to the Russian borders. A few hours ago an RQ-4 Global Hawk based in the Beale air base, California, currently deployed in Sigonella, Sicily, has carried out an ISR mission in the Crimea. The flight was detected both by defense radar and free commercial sites that monitor air traffic with details of the mission published in real time. In theory, the flight profile for all light aircraft would impose a low profile with some tricks such as, for example, the transponder off and the radio silence with the ATC control. We know almost everything about the UAVGH000 flight, but why are the spy vehicles detectable? In principle, aircraft to which the persistent recognition is required should not be detectable. However we talk about strategic platforms without tricks to reduce the radar signature as it happens for example on the RQ-180 and RQ-170 Sentinel. For example, the US RC-135, the Russian Tu-214R or the platforms that rise from Trapani to Libya fly with the transponder on. Globak Hawk has never been designed to penetrate enemy territory. All his missions take place in permissive areas or at a safe distance from the enemy defense grid
