Davide Faraone, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Education, University and Research in the Renzi Government and Undersecretary of Health in the Gentiloni Government, in a meeting held at the "Cambiamenti" headquarters in Palermo and focused on the political elections scheduled for next March 4, he commented with the journalists present:
“If we renew the lists they attack us because we don't guarantee the political paths of the past. If we don't, they attack us because we are tied to the same names. We are proud of these lists. We are preparing for a challenge with our heads held high by being competitive even in many single-member colleges. Beyond what is being told, I am convinced that in many single-member constituencies the Democratic Party and the coalition will be competitive. This is the best team that could be put on the pitch. Then there will be times to assess the leadership groups, but it is not the time for the elections ”.
The Palermo politician then added: “There have been public controversies that have affected all political forces. There is no political force from which a critical element has not emerged. I think it is physiological: at every election and every composition of lists there are controversies, and I too have made them in the past. It is curious to read often conflicting headlines in the newspapers, at times that the Democratic Party presents strangers and at other times that it brings in the usual suspects. It is not underlined that we will elect only Sicilian parliamentarians for the first time: there is no parachute in Sicily, not even one, unlike what happens in other regions with parachutes from all parties. The representation that we have put in place is heterogeneous and includes many figures, from party leaders such as provincial and regional secretaries, to civil society such as Gaspare Gulotta of the Palermo Polyclinic or the rector of Messina Pietro Navarra, and even mayors and administrators like Fabio Venezia, mayor of Troina. And we are honored by the nominations of Maria Elena Boschi and Paolo Gentiloni because they represent a national government group that has achieved success - concluded Faraone -. Maria Elena was the protagonist of the success of the G7 in Taormina ”.
Regarding the "remote" candidacies, the deputy of the 5 Movement Stars Danilo Toninelli during an interview broadcast on Radio Radio, had commented on the candidacy of Maria Elena Boschi, far from her "natural" areas of expertise:
“The candidacy of Boschi in Bolzano? How can this person who, in his vomiting constitutional reform Renzi Boschi rejected by the citizens, wanted to abolish the provinces of Trento and Bolzano, can now run as candidates for Bolzano and Sicily. But do you know that Boschi is the candidate of the 5 multi-member constituencies as leaders and in the single-member of Bolzano?
