Eni consolidates the gas production record from the Nooros field in the offshore area of Egypt

Eni consolidates the record production of the Nooros gas field, offshore Egypt, which has reached 32 million cubic meters of gas per day, corresponding to about 215.000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed). This production represents the highest level ever achieved by a field of Eni in Egypt in the last 50 years.

This important result was achieved following the start of the well NW-7, the thirteenth perforated in this field. The production level is destined to be further improved in June 2018 when the fourteenth well, currently being drilled, will enter production, with which 34 millions of cubic meters of gas per day will be reached, corresponding to about 230.000 boed.

Nooros, discovered in July of 2015 in the offshore of the Nile Delta and put into production in record time in August of the same year, therefore in only 4 weeks, is today the largest gas production field in the Egyptian portfolio of Eni and a successful case of the integrated model of the company. His discovery is in fact a brilliant example of the exploratory strategy near field of Eni, aimed at the valorisation of reserves located near existing infrastructures. Furthermore, thanks to the mature context and the conventional nature of the project, its development represents a unique case in the oil & gas industry, exceeding all expectations in terms of timing and results.

The development of the Nooros field will be optimized in the medium term thanks to the extension of the development license that will allow the realization of new investments. In particular, the installation of a new backbone that will connect the Nooros area with the El Gamil ground treatment plant between the end of the 2018 and the beginning of the 2019, ensuring the current levels of production in the medium term and maximizing the recoverable reserves. This action will also allow the launch of the Baltim SW project (where Eni holds a share of 50% through the subsidiary IEOC, while the remaining 50% is held by BP) and the rapid production of the future exploration potential of the area of the Nile Delta.

In the Nile Delta concession, in which Nooros is located, Eni holds a portion of 75% through the subsidiary IEOC Production BV, while the remaining 25% is held by BP. The company is present in Egypt from the 1954 and is the main producer of the country with a production equity more than 250.000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
