Explodes building in Afrin: 11 dead

According to reports from some local sources, at least 11 people (seven civilians and four pro-Turkish rebels) were killed in the explosion of a building "stuffed with explosives" in the city of Afrin, a Kurdish enclave in northern Syria conquered yesterday by Turkish army flanked by Syrian opposition rebels calling themselves the "Free Syrian Army" (ELS).

The explosion took place yesterday evening, while a four-story building in the Ahmed Shahawi district was being cleared by the ETS. According to the testimony of an FSA fighter, the Kurdish militias would have filled the building with explosives.

Meanwhile, confirmation of the death of a British citizen who had joined the Kurdish militias, who was killed last March 15 in the offensive by Turkey against the enclave of Afrin has arrived. According to local media, the death of the 26-year-old Anna Campbell, a plumber originally from East Sussex, who joined the Kurdish fighters last May, was confirmed by her father.

This is the second known case of a pro-Kurdish foreign fighter killed in Afrin, which is added to that of the Dutchman of 32anni, Haukur Hilmarsson, who died last February 24.
