India: Agni-V long-range ballistic missile test

India has carried out a new test of its Agni-V long-range ground-to-ground ballistic missile, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead up to 5.000 kilometers away. The success of the launch, carried out this morning from Abdul Khalam island off the coast of the State of Orissa, was confirmed by the Indian Defense Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman. The Agni-V has been developed by DRDO since 1997, and is a weapon that, once completed, will allow India to enter the exclusive group of countries that have strategic intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). and which includes the United States, Russia, China, Great Britain, France and Israel. Weighting 50 tons, the Agni-V is 17 meters long and two in diameter. It has three stages and is able to transport, thanks to a solid fuel propulsion, space equipment, satellites and individual and multiple nuclear warheads.
