Iran: Ali Shamkhani, impossible to renegotiate agreement on nuclear power

The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, said that recent attempts by the United States to scupper the Iranian nuclear agreement (also known as the Joint Global Action Plan, JCPAA) are illegal and that the agreement it can not be renegotiated under any circumstances. Emphasizing that the agreement meets the minimum requirements of Iran, he pointed out the inability of the United States to fulfill its obligations by stating that even if Iran has fully complied with its commitments, the United States and even Europe they have fulfilled some of their commitments.

According to Shamkhani "the speeches on the review of the JCPOA are nothing but deceptive statements resulting from the illusion of the President of the United States (Donal Trump)". Finally, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council stated that the Iranian missile system is the result of the experience of eight years of war between Iran and Iraq (1980-1988) and of the Iranian nation's desire to defend itself from any aggression. "The missile program will continue as part of the deterrent policy against external threats," concluded Shamkhani.
