Libya, Haftar accuses Turkey for arms shipment directed to Misrata

Khalifa Haftar was very critical of Turkey: “a war crime committed and sponsored by Turkey” the sending of the cargo ship loaded with explosives, seized in recent days by the Greek authorities while it was headed for the city of Misrata.

It has been defined as a "sailing bomb", the "Andromeda", flying the flag of Tanzania, carrying 29 containers with detonators and explosive substances including ammonium nitrate. Eight crew members: two Ukrainians, five Indians and one Albanian. In 2011, the UN imposed an arms embargo banning their sale, supply or transfer to Libya. The general command of the Libyan armed forces is following the ongoing investigation of the Andromeda ship with great concern. The ship had left Turkey after being loaded in Mersin and Iskandarun, heading for Djibouti and the Sultanate of Oman. After the departure, the owner of the ship ordered the captain to change destination for Misrata. The Libyan National Army then asked "the UN support mission for Libya (Unsmil), the United Nations Security Council, the Arab League, the African Union and the European Union and all international rights organizations to consider this act as a war crime committed and sponsored by Turkey, as well as by all those connected to this ship. These actions confirm our previous statements about Turkey's suspicious role in supporting terrorism not only in Libya, but throughout the region.
