In the early hours of the day, the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Milan, in the provinces of Naples, Parma and, at the same time, in Spain, implemented an application order for personal precautionary measures, issued by the GIP of the Court of Milan against Italian 5, originating from the Neapolitan, between the 21 and the 31 years of age, held responsible, for various reasons of aggravated fraud.
The measure comes to crown the activity conducted by the military of the Investigative Unit of Milan on the basis of the elements collected in the analysis of some episodes of fraud to the elderly consumed in the capital. The investigations carried out allowed to identify the group members as authors of at least 27 episodes, consumed between November 2016 and February 2017, against 24 women and 4 men from 65 to 95 years of age, to which they were brought via cash and precious for an estimated value of over 200 thousand euro.
The scams, consumed in different areas of the capital, were all scored with the same modus operandi that provided a telephone contact with the victims, during which at first a false lawyer and in some cases even a self-styled marshal of the Carabinieri communicated the need to deliver money and jewelry to an emissary in order to be able to proceed with the release of a family member held at a Carabinieri barracks as responsible for a road accident.
The men of the weapon came to identify the scammers by crossing the data acquired from the complaints filed by the victims - from which it emerged that the surnames used by the self-styled lawyers and the names of the collectors were always the same - with the results of the technical activities put in place on users, including foreign ones, used to contact the elderly. The identities of the collectors were also confirmed by the videos of some surveillance cameras, as well as the location of mobile users in the areas and at times compatible with the consumption of the scams.
In particular, it emerged that the telephonist, from Spain, found on the web, through the telephone directories online, fixed users of the elderly who resided in the streets where, from time to time, they decided to go to "work" the accomplices. It was also found the commuting of criminals who, generally, during the weekends returned to their homes in the Neapolitan where they proceeded to resell the gold, and then leave again on Monday morning towards northern Italy.
At the end of the operations, one of the suspects was taken to the Parma District House, two were confined to the house, one was subjected to the obligation to stay in the municipality of residence, while the one arrested in Ibiza was conducted at the local prison awaiting extradition procedures.
