Besides 100 Italian policemen have carried out, in different localities of the national territory and in Romania, the Pre-trial Custody order issued, against 13 investigated, by the GIP at the Court of Milan at the request of the Milan Public Prosecutor's office which also ordered further home and IT searches. At the same time, in Romania, with the participation of State Police investigators, other 11 precautionary measures and 14 searches are being carried out on the provision of the Romanian judicial authority. The "Bruno" operation is being completed in Milan, Rozzano, Monza, Sesto San Giovanni, Jesolo, Trieste, Verona, Rome, Naples, Cosenza and Reggio Calabria. Today's activities are the culmination of investigations conducted by the Postal Police and Communications Department of Milan and developed internationally by the Postal and Communications Police Service, towards a transnational criminal association dedicated to cyber attacks and large-scale frauds. , made last year to the detriment of over one hundred Italian victims holders of accounts accessible via home banking and 74 foreign citizens who have undergone, abroad, the cloning of credit cards. In light of the established transnational character, the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office activated the judicial cooperation and coordination mechanisms provided by Eurojust, which led to the establishment of a Joint Investigation Squad (as per Legislative Decree no. 16 February 2016, n. 34) composed of Italian and Romanian policemen who, under the coordination of their respective prosecutors and with the essential support of Eurojust, through the Italian and Romanian national representatives of the European Agency, jointly developed the investigative activities, actively participating in foreign territory and exchanging, in real time, the evidence necessary to corroborate the criminal conduct committed in several countries. During the preliminary organization of the investigative activities it was possible to involve Europol, which in the execution phase also ensured the constant operational connection for the needs of assessment in the European field. The activities were inspired by news informally learned by the Compartment, at the end of 2016, on the suspicious role of two subjects of Calabrian origin. The timely inquiries on their account gave back the symptoms of belonging to a transnational criminal organization, operating mainly in Italy and Romania, which ascertained that it was committed to computer frauds for the illicit hoarding of huge profits, then cleaned up, on which the Attention is highest to the potential for distortion that may result in legitimate markets. In addition to the dangerous profile of the numerous suspects, some of whom are also of considerable criminal depth, the particular solidity that the organization has managed to build by adopting a strong internal control system for the management of illegal activities has emerged, sometimes resulting in actions of intimidation of affiliates or competitors, or in the planning of "punitive expeditions". In intercepted communications, there were no comments and phrases demonstrating this power, typical of members of very structured organizations. For example, to assert the internal hierarchies: "Nn sai ki are but the customer and my sax fsi the serious thank you ..." "... you know ki so and I don't know n infamous kiaro so de strada not a pajsccio ..." "... (...) Don't do shit with me "..." I'll tell you for the last time, don't put me in the middle of anything I don't enter "..." Don't make mistakes (...) with me talking "... Or, those towards third parties, external to ´ organization, overwhelmed in favor of its affiliates: "listen, I am a man, and here I speak, I have only one word, go do the deed, go sign then if it does not correspond (...) do you correspond? ... know that anyway we come to you ....... "Therefore, the State Police will use all the tools provided to dissolve this organization and prevent the continuation of criminal activities by aiming, immediately, at the all illicit proceeds. The numerous observation services charged to the suspects, in one with the technical investigations (telephone, telematic and environmental wiretapping) were able to overcome the particular precautions to converse, the signs of understanding and the techniques of diversion of contents, allowing to reveal the The entire organization, the structure (hierarchical at regional level), the mechanism for collecting illicit proceeds, mainly the result of large-scale phishing (through the activation of convenience cards in the name of over 100 nominees) and the various measures adopted to interrupt the chain of identification of the passage of money towards the top of the organization. The illicit proceeds ascertained in the period observed by the surveys are over 1.200.000 euro, but it is believed that the organization possesses much greater capacity for handling money. Thanks to the precious contribution of Poste Italiane SpA, with which the Postal and Communications Police boasts a long and effective collaboration also for the joint prevention of fraud, it has been possible to identify a series of transfers of money in Italy and abroad, essential to reconstruct, in a single context, the numerous fragments purposely made to move illicit proceeds. The State Police coordinates activities thanks to the establishment, at the Milan Division, of a special Control Room, where the specialists of the Postal and Communications Police are working together with officers of Europol and the Romanian Police.
