Rome: "Run for Autism Europe" canceled due to bad weather

Today, in Rome, it was supposed to be a celebration of running and solidarity, with hundreds of autistic children from all over Italy and 12 other European countries ready to run the 10 or the 2.5 kilometers of the "Run For Autism Europe", the race organized by the Filippide Project which was part of the “ECAP - European Competition for Autistic People” project.

Due to bad weather, however, the authorities in charge, for safety reasons, were unable to authorize the conduct of the race which was thus canceled. Nicola Pintus, head of the Filippide Project, said: "We are truly saddened because we had organized this race which for the first time in history would have seen the participation of autistic children from many European countries and hundreds of Roman runners had joined to run together with them, showing all their big hearts. Up until a few minutes before the start we hoped to be able to make them all run together, but there were no suitable safety conditions for the race, so we had to cancel it ”.
