Thousands of soldiers and dozens of armored vehicles, defense systems and even drones have appeared in the center of Moscow for a rehearsal of the Victory Day parade, offering a sneak peek at the news to show at the upcoming show.
About 12.500 people took part in the rehearsals, staged at the iconic Red Square until Thursday. More than 150 pieces of military material have passed through the center of Moscow, allowing the bystanders to take a look at the weapons that will participate in the upcoming Victory Day parade.
The regulars of the Victory Day parade, the main T-72 tanks, were presented with the most modern modifications. The T-72B3 machines seen during the tests have an additional spaced armor and rather imaginative side skirts, along with other improvements.
Tor-M2DT short-range air defense systems linked to the Arctic, which debuted at the Parade last year, will be screened again during the celebrations. The system's basic platform, the dual-terrain DT-30, has already been tested in the Arctic, while interceptor missiles have demonstrated impressive capabilities. The entire Tor-M2DT complex was designed to be tested against the elements this year and, after the tests, the systems should be adopted by the Russian troops of Russia.
The new Russian UAVs, or "Korsar" and "Katran", will be presented for the first time during the parade. Apparently the cars will be transported on trucks next to their armament which will be put on display and do not fly alone, but any surprise can be expected.
Earlier this week, aviation personnel taking part in the parade completed the preparations for the event, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. It is expected that a whole series of aircraft will take part in the celebrations, including strategic and tactical bombers, fighters and close air support, as well as various helicopters. It is expected that at least two advanced Su-57 warplanes fly over the Red Square on May 9.
