Russia, Akula-class attack submarines / Project 971 Ščuka-B off the eastern coast of the United States: never detected

(by Franco Iacch) A few hours ago the satellite broadcaster Zvezda, official channel of the Russian Defense Ministry, released some details of the secret operation. To be involved, in my view, could have been the K-317 Pantera (Akula) and the K-154 Tigr (Akula I) which I remember are part of the Division of Animals / Animaliвериной дивизии deployed in Gadzhiyevo. The "Division of Animals" consists of the submarines Leopard, Tigr, Gepard, Pantera, Volk (Gray Wolf) and Vepr (Boar). It was the Russian Admiralty that ordered units to deploy off an unidentified US base while remaining in international waters. I remember that at the moment there are four submarines that will be upgraded to the Super Akula / Suparakula standard: the K-328 Leopard, K-461 Volk, K-391 Bratsk and the K-295 Samara. The Russian Navy operates a fleet of eleven Akula-class attack submarines: most of them are under repair while only three units are in active service with the Northern Fleet and one with the Pacific Fleet.
