Trump calls Erdogan to demand to ease tensions in Syria against the Kurds

The White House has announced that US President Donald Trump, on the phone with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has expressed "concern about the growing violence" exercised by Ankara through the "Olive Branch" mission against US-backed Kurdish militiamen in Afrin, in Syria.

Washington fears that the mission could put at risk the shared goal in Syria, namely the defeat of the crisis.

This is the reason that pushed Trump to put pressure on Erdogan to "limit the military actions and avoid causing victims among civilians and to increase the number of refugees and people forced to leave their homes".

Trump therefore called for "caution" by asking "to avoid any action that could provoke a conflict between the Turkish and American forces" expressing concern over the Turkish false and destructive rhetoric on US citizens and employees detained in the state of emergency in Turkey.
