According to the British Minister of State for Trade and Export Promotion, Baroness Rona Alison Fairhead, announced a deal worth $ 210,8 million for the repair and improvement of gas turbines at 10 plants. electricity in Iraq.

The news was released by the UK embassy in Baghdad. The project will help generate 6,5 gigawatts of electricity to bring light to millions of homes across the Arab country. This is the second project as part of a memorandum of understanding signed in April 2017 between the governments of London and Baghdad, aimed at supporting the development of infrastructure in Iraq through Ukef, the British credit agency for exports.

Baroness Fairhead said "This project demonstrates the UK's commitment to supporting Iraq's continued economic development and, through government support, we are laying the foundations for future UK-Iraq trade."

Under the terms of the agreement, General Electric Global Services UK will bring new technology that will improve gas turbine performance and enable power plants in the Baghdad, Karbala, Kadisiya, Babil, Najaf and Basra regions to operate more dynamically.
