The US Open 2017 has definitely entered the highlight of the tournament. In the evening and during the Italian night yesterday, the Spanish Pablo Carreno Busta and the Argentine Diego Schwartzman faced each other for the first two quarter-finals, and in the second, the American Sam Querrey and the South African Kevin Anderson. Two matches joined by the mother tongue of the protagonists on the pitch, Spanish for the first quarter, English for the second. Interesting match the first. The Iberian starts strong in the first set: 5-2 ahead, Carreno loses a break advantage but not the second, closing 6-4. The Argentine, fresh from a thigh injury in the previous round, but fought more or less like his compatriot Del Porto, tries to react by fighting with all his strength, but can do nothing against Carreno Busta who wins the match and reaches for the first time in his career a Grand Slam semifinal, after this year, at Roland Garros, he stopped in the quarter-finals.
In the second quarter final, they face two of the best hitters around, American Sam Querrey and South African Kevin Anderson. The match, which lasted 3 hours and 26 minutes, was dominated, as easily predictable, by the serve. Wins deserving, for aggression and greater precision in the shots, the South African Anderson. He too, like the opponent he will face in the next match, the Spaniard Carreno Busta, will play his first Grand Slam semifinal.
The third quarter-final, recently finished, saw the current n. 1 ATP Rafa Nadal overwhelm the 19 year old Russian Andrey Rublev. The Majorcan tennis player easily reaches the semifinal of the US Open, granting his rival a total of 5 games during the match closed in three sets lasting 1 hour and 39 minutes of play. The Spaniard is waiting to know who will be his challenger who will come out of the last quarter scheduled in a few hours between Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro, for a semifinal which at worst will be of a very high thickness.
