USA: Igor Korotchenko on the NPR 2018. The new nuclear doctrine poses direct threats to world stability

The editor-in-chief of the Russian National Defense magazine, Igor Korotchenko, told the Xinhua news agency that the new nuclear policy, recently announced by the United States, showing its ambition of global domination, will destabilize the world by damaging the existing system of control and balance . "This is a strategy of intimidation and threats, including the use of nuclear weapons, against any state that does not fall within the concept of the American world."

The United States Department of Defense has officially published the Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) 2018[1], guiding principle for future US policy.

Korotchenko noted that the novelty in the NPR is that now the United States claims to be ready to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states, which means that Washington intends to use nuclear weapons whenever it sees fit. "The United States is ready to use nuclear weapons or threaten to use them as a form of political blackmail", Emphasized Korotchenko.

After the NRP was published, several criticisms were raised, although Washington justified its decision on nuclear expansion, underlining the worsening of global security.

For Korotchenko, it is just a pretext used by Washington to cover his steps.

"The United States is fueling the flame ... their desire is to dominate the world, as President Trump has repeatedly stated, claiming he wants to make America great again. Russia and China are not involved in land grabbing actions. The new American doctrine is aimed primarily at Russia and China, which are considered by Washington as one of the main threats to its global domination, so the United States could use nuclear weapons against China and Russia when disputes arise in cases concerning South China Sea and NATO countries ", said Korotchenko.

According to Korotchenko, this direct military and political threat will not in any way strengthen the national security of the United States, because this action will cause other countries, such as Russia, to respond with an equally increasing nuclear arsenal.

"Globally, it will destabilize the world, since the existing system of control and balancing will collapse and make the world more dangerous, more unpredictable ", he has declared.
