Saudi Arabia: New impetus for international relations for Vision 2030

(by Pasquale Preziosa) Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS) is preparing a long trip to the West in some of the countries of reference, to consolidate the new political course in Arabia.

The important element that will be presented during the visits to Washington, Paris and London will be the "Vision 2030" developed by the Crown Prince.

In the recent past, the new Saudi regime has repeatedly highlighted that despite having incurred high costs for the defense of the country (fourth country in the world for investments in the field of defense), the Saudi armed forces do not appear to be among the ten most powerful armed forces (24th position according to globalfirepower.com).

In order to reduce the existing gap and diversify the country's economy, the new regime has launched the new strategy based on the new business concept based on 50%, at least, of the products being acquired will have to have a Saudi manufacture.

The Saudi aerospace industry is developing by leaps and bounds, attracting the best international talents also in terms of managers, rigorously selected based on merit and professional skills.

A College was born, in the 2014, for the preparation of Saudi aeronautical technicians with a capacity of up to 4000 students, which will be certified according to the FAA and EASA standards.

The next 7 March MbS will be in London and then proceed to the US and presumably could confirm the visit also in Paris.

The levels of the scheduled meetings are very high: from Trump, to Mattis, to Pompeo, to Rogers and the aim is to consolidate strategic relations for the solution of regional problems related to Yemen, Syria, Iran and Egypt.

The Prince could be accompanied by the Head of Intelligence for Foreign Affairs Khaled Ali Al Humaidan, the head of the Saudi Arabia (SAMI) Yasser al Rumayyan and the head of public investment.

The solid industrial relationship with the US emerged during the AFED (The Armed Forces exhibition foe Diversity of Requirements and Capabilities), which is part of Vision 2030.

The major US companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and General Dynamics were encouraged to invest in Saudi Arabia.

In France Prince MbS could meet Macron to try to distance France from Iran, continue to have operational support for the war in Yemen and strengthen relations with the Center National d'Etudes Spatiales, ArianeSpace, Constructions Mecaniques de Normandie for buildings naval.

The Saudi delegation will speak only and exclusively of joint ventures and industrial partnerships and not of classical contracts for the purchase of platforms and technology.

Vision 2030 represents a great possibility also for other countries, among which Italy, but it is necessary to have a plan and a specific industrial and political strategy to be relevant in Saudi Arabia.

The industrial political importance of a country is enhanced by the frequency of exchange of political visits among the countries.
