The Roman nightlife, 300 thousand foreigners a year to "get high in peace"

The most popular city for the "movida" is Rome. 300mila are young and very young foreigners who arrive, alone and without controls, every year in the Capital. Unindustria Turismo reveals nationalities: Americans in first place, then Germans, French, Spanish and Dutch between the 18 and 20 years.

The stay, reports Il Messaggero, lasts on average 3-4 days for those on vacation and from 3 to 9 months for those coming for study reasons.

There are many offers for young foreigners advertised on the web.

The site "Roma experience“, Reports“ a guide for students in Rome ”recommends five to drink: San Callisto in Trastevere, via del Plebiscito, via di Tor Millina behind piazza Navona, piazzetta Monti, via della Cuccagna, in the Campo de 'Fiori area. Other destinations are Piazza Trilussa, Piazza Mastai, San Lorenzo the Lungotevere, Ponte Milvio. Places where you drink heavily and drugs are often found very easily.

For alcohol tours there is a different appointment for each day of the week

Monday a group of “pub crawl”, among the most popular, organizes the “Insomnia” evening, 25 euros the admission price, alcohol-based drink mixed with a caffeine drink, to stay up late. And of course «free shot at the door», the first sip of spirits is free, already at the door.

Tuesday there is the «Ladies Night», so Cosmopolitan is free for girls.

Wednesday there is the «Jager bomb», an alcoholic "bomb" that mixes caffeine and alcohol.

Thursday  the thirsty thursday, thirsty Thursday, with discounts for students.

Friday is "unlimited", an unlimited offer of drinks, beer, wine and "all the pizza you want".

Saturday we start from a pub behind via di Ripetta with "drink games" and "body shots", ie shots consumed on bodies. For example, you spread the spray cream on the navel of a girl lying on the counter and someone else licks the concoction before swallowing a shot of hard alcohol.

And then, always on Saturday, we continue "in other bars and pubs after midnight", assures the advertising message.

Sunday there are beer-pong tournaments, ie ping-pong in which the loser guzzles a mug of beer. Cost: always 25 euros per person. Then there is the inevitable Toga Party, where you dress up like ancient Romans by wrapping yourself up with a sheet, a typical party of US colleges moved overseas.

In theory, explains Il Messaggero, pub crawls would be illegitimate, at least in certain areas and at certain times. The new regulation of the brigade just approved by the Capitol and even before the anti-alcohol ordinances prohibits them. If you are surprised to organize them or participate in them in the Center, you risk being expelled for 48 hours and, for those who are repeat offenders, the Daspo is triggered.

American boys are among the most attracted to the nightlife in Rome because in the US you can't drink before the 21 years and you can't do it outdoors.

Stefano Fiori, president of Unindustria Turismo, commented on the phenomenon: "Rome is a pole of attraction for young people from all over the world also because it is one of the cities with the most universities in Europe. We don't have to become Ibiza, many guys also come here for culture or for study reasons. But there is the risk of falling into excesses, above all there is a network that does business on it. But the journey we take when we are young is what remains in our hearts for life. Rome shouldn't be remembered for the buzz, by anyone".
