Trump presents Congress with a "stellar" budget for 2121: 705 billion for Defense

The US president, Donald Trump presented the Tax Year 2021, many innovations affecting new ambitious objectives. A budget from 4.800 billion dollars, writes Il Sole 24Ore, with important cuts to social programs in favor of defense and border control.

"A Budget for America's Future“, This is the title of the maneuver, which will have to pass the difficult examination of the Congress vote. Trump wanted to direct the maneuver by pouring significant funds into the Defense budget asking for 705 billion dollars, part of which 69 billion are used to finance missions abroad alone.

In total, 740 billion are destined for the US security and defense sector, in line with what was decided by Congress last year.

Particular attention was paid to the budget for NASA, equal to 25,2 billion compared to 22,6 in 2020. The novelty recorded in recent years is the surge in funds allocated for space exploration: 44 billion dollars to relaunch the missions and arrive first on Mars. The program is called Artemis and foresees the return of man to the Moon in 2024, the development of lunar bases where to live, missions to the Moon planned every year until 2030 and the final goal of reach Mars by 2035.

Funding for the project has doubled "Moon to Mars" which will cost $ 71,1 billion for each of the next five years. In the defense budget for the first time they are also provided $ 15,4 billion for the US Space Force. In the five-year period, 106,7 billion of investments in innovation are expected, with greater allocations to Research & Development.

The strategic objective of the United States is to be always ahead in the development of technologies compared to China and Russia. As reported by the Sole24Ore correspondent from New York, the need to modernize nuclear arsenals is of primary importance for the American strategy, with an increase in funds of 18% and higher spending compared to the last budget of 29 billion.

The Pentagon also plans to invest 7 billion in four strategic high-tech areas: hypersonic speed, artificial intelligence, 5G and microelectronics, autonomous platforms and robotics.
