In comparison with the corresponding month of 2021, the improvement in the balance is largely due to the positive trend in tax collections, the growth of which is attributable to self-settlement payments, which was affected by the different scheduling of payments for ISA subjects who last year they had slipped to September, as well as to the increase in payments of social security contributions, VAT and other indirect taxes. The positive result was partially mitigated by the increase in payments, to which the following contributed: the higher withdrawals by the Social Security Institutions for the disbursement to pensioners of the 200 euro bonus, provided for by article 32 of decree-law 50 of 2022; the higher expenditure on salaries, also due to the payment of the 200 euro bonus to public employees, and the higher expenditure of the Central and Territorial Administrations. The € 200 bonus for private employees was advanced by employers, with compensation from the following month's contributions. The disbursement of the first tranche of approximately 800 million relating to the loan to the GSE of 4.000 million, provided for by article 4 of decree-law 80 of 2022, for the purchase of natural gas for storage and subsequent sale.

The interest expenditure on government bonds is in line with the value of the same month of the previous year.
