Abi: banks, over 560 million euros invested in physical security in the 2018

The attention of Italian banks in matters of security is increasingly high: over 560 million of investments made in the 2018 for branch protection, cash management and insurance policies.

This is what emerges from the latest Report on the expenses incurred by the banking sector for security, drawn up by OSSIF - the ABI research center on anti-crime security - based on data provided by 60 member banks representing 58% in terms of branches.

According to the study, the expenses incurred to guarantee customers even more protected and secure branches, through anti-theft and anti-theft prevention measures, represented the largest investment with over 281 million, equal to 50,2% of the total.

The following are the costs for cash management - transportation and handling of the values ​​- which amounted to over 242 million (43,3%) and expenses for insurance premiums, for which a cost of over 36 million was incurred euro (6,5%).

The OSSIF report emphasizes that banks have distributed their budget among security measures (purchase / installation / plant maintenance) for a total amount of over 142 million (25,4% of the total and equal to an average 5,6 thousand euros per branch) and security services for a total of 139 million euros (24,8% and equal to 5,4 thousand euros per branch). As regards the activities dedicated to cash management, the expenses for the transport of the values ​​(29,4) take precedence followed by those for the processing of the values ​​(13,9%).
