Italian Army in Calabria for bad weather emergency

At the request of the Prefecture of Crotone, the Army intervened to restore the road system and constantly monitors the level of flood-risk waterways.

Already yesterday afternoon, the 1st Bersaglieri regiment, stationed in Cosenza, set up several observation posts along the Tacina, Esaro and Neto rivers. Using the field lighting towers, the army soldiers continued their activity throughout the night.

During the patrolling operations along state road 106, they intervened in favor of a man who, with his two children, was stuck with his car due to the Tacina flood. The intervention of the Bersaglieri of the 1st regiment made it possible to rescue the family which was subsequently immediately transported to a safe place.

This morning the earthmoving machines were used for the removal of some debris on the provincial road 52 (Crotone-Papanice).

The Army has made available a platoon of specialists and the special means of the 21 ° regiment genius guastatori of Caserta, already pre-alerted and risky in Calabria during the late evening of yesterday.

The departments involved, thanks to the high "dual-use" connotation, are able to act and operate promptly and effectively in favor of the population involved, as is happening in Calabria these days.
