This morning the destroyer Luigi Durand de la Penne of the Navy arrived in the port of Cartagena (Spain), where he will stop until 11 2018 for the first stage of the 2018 Education Campaign of the students of the 2ª class of the Academy Naval. The ship arrives in the Spanish port after a period of operating activity in the Central Mediterranean, during which it participated in the Mare Sicuro operation.
The 123 students of the course "Dunatos" continue, with the boarding on ship Durand de la Penne, a path of professional growth, started last year on board the school ship Amerigo Vespucci, living for the first time a strictly operational experience on a "gray" ship.
The students will be continuously engaged, on board the destroyer, perfectly integrated into the crew on board, in an experience that will help reinforce in them the founding values that distinguish the men and women of the Armed Forces. The Campaign on the ship, under the command of the captain of vessel Armando Simi, after the stop in Cartagena will participate in a mission of presence, surveillance and naval diplomacy in the Gulf of Guinea.
The 23 Education Campaign from Durand de la Penne, after the Spanish port, will touch the ports of Dakar (Senegal), Lagos (Nigeria), Accra-Tema (Ghana), Casablanca (Morocco) ), with the task of bringing Italian excellence abroad through the organization of cultural events and promotion, in collaboration with the national diplomatic representations in the host countries.
Ship Durand de la Penne is moored at the pier Cruises and, during the break, will be open to visits on board with these hours:
- Thursday 9 August, from 16.00 to 19.00;
- Friday August, from 10.00 to 12.00 and from 16.00 to 19.00
