Saudi Arabia is not interested in buying Manchester United

Turki al-Shabanah, Saudi Arabian media minister, denied the news that the crown prince of the kingdom is trying to buy the Premier League football team Manchester United through a post on Twitter.

The reports that Mohammed Bin Salman intends to buy the club are "completely false", wrote the minister, Turki al-Shabanah, on the famous social network.

The news had been circulating for days that the Crown Prince had tried to entice the Glazer family to give up control of the club. Shabanah explained that "Manchester United held a meeting with PIF Saudi to discuss the opportunity of a sponsor" but no agreement was reached.

The Sun, a British newspaper, reported on Sunday that the crown prince had participated in a $ 3,8 billion ($ 4,9 billion) takeover bid for one of football's most popular clubs. The newspaper explained that the offer had been presented for the first time in October, but the fallout from the murder of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the embassy of the kingdom of Istanbul had pushed away a possible agreement.
