Work: Abi, new professionals and people at the center of the digital age

Launch of the 13th Annual Forum on Human Resources in the Bank: retraining, sustainable development, productivity and lifelong learning true guarantees of employability

The profound changes in organization and work determined by the digitalisation that contributes to impact on the definition of service strategies, the identification of new professions and the acquisition of new skills: this is the current scenario in which "management moves" human resources in the bank in the year in which the national collective agreement for the sector expires.

The reconciliation of professional and occupational interests with the needs of stability and balance of Italian banks remains even more central to the objectives of revising the contract, which will be the result of a constructive dialogue between the social partners.

This is the introductory message, in brief, at the opening in Milan of the thirteenth Forum Abi "HR2018 - Banks and Human Resources". An "incubator of ideas", in which top experts in labor relations and human resources meet to discuss the present and future of the sector.

With the Italian banks at the forefront of the digital transformation of services and processes thanks to a constant focus on innovation, the focus of the two days in Milan will revolve around the digital revolution, the future of work and industrial relations, the transformation of work paradigms , culture, integrated welfare, bilateralism, competitiveness and employment in credit companies with particular attention to the new generations.

Future of the work in the bank and digital revolution factors - the statement explains - increasingly intertwined in a very complex horizon that presents a "change of pace" of the economy, according to the first figures of 2018, with positive effects on the credit dynamics and the asset quality; while the amount of impaired loans continues to decline sharply.

It is necessary to achieve better levels of profitability to adequately remunerate the invested capital. In this process of rapid transformation, with the impetuous development of technology and the arrival on the credit markets and the intermediation of new operators, organizational changes must tend to increase efficiency, productivity and profitability in banks so that they can continue to carry out the their fundamental role of support for families and businesses.

Digitization for Italian banks is not a risk but an opportunity - the press continues - people remain at the center of the organization and continuous training and retraining of personnel are the most concrete response. So in the quality of the people who work the only real antidote to the feared replacement of machines on man; investment in innovation is necessary, but important human contact and trust for the management of savings and investments of customers, whose needs are increasingly evolved and technologically advanced remain important. Tomorrow's banks will be able to combine constantly updated technical skills with relational and social skills that make up the distinctive trait of the human being compared to the "machine".

To facilitate the changes that the market requires, the sector is ready to dialogue with trade unions. In this sense it is important the convergence on the spirit, manifested by Abi with the letter to the Mayors of the 28 May, to favor the launch and development of a wide and articulated comparison to renew the collective agreement. There is a common awareness of having to deepen the growing transformations of the overall scenario and those that most directly concern banking companies, enhancing the centrality of constructive interlocution. Through the latter, based on mature and inclusive trade union relations, it will be possible to achieve the expected innovation objectives with balance and sustainability: the great attention shown in the management of surpluses through the use of the Solidarity Fund that from 2000, without tensions, sets an example social or collective costs, accompanied bank workers over 68.000; as well as the Employment Fund which from 2014 to today has encouraged the recruitment of over 18.000 young people.

The work of the Forum will end with a round table to be attended by: the Secretary General of the Fisac Cgil, Agostino Megale; the Chairman of Abi's Committee on Labor and Labor, Eliano Lodesani.
