This afternoon, Tuesday 4 December, a baby girl of a few hours, in imminent danger of life, was transported with the utmost urgency from Cagliari to Rome, aboard a Falcon 50 plane of the 31 ° Stormo of the Italian Air Force.
The little girl, protected by a thermal cradle and accompanied by a medical team, was then transferred to an ambulance to be immediately admitted to the intensive care unit of the "Bambino Gesù" hospital.
The request for transport was received from the Prefecture of Cagliari to the Situation Room at the Summit of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks that of authorizing and managing this type of mission for the population.
The Situation Room of Vertice has therefore ordered the urgent take-off of a Falcon 50, one of the assets that the Armed Forces holds 24 hours on 24 for this kind of need, which started from Ciampino to Cagliari, from where it then took off , once the little girl has boarded, around the 15: 30
After less than an hour of flight, the Falcon landed at Ciampino airport, where the thermal cradle was transferred to the ambulance for immediate transport to the “Bambino Gesù” hospital.
The aircraft then returned to Ciampino airport, where it resumed the readiness service.
