Workshop of the OSCAD with operators of the police of state and the arma of the carabinieri

As part of the training program of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) called TAHCLE (Training Against Hate Crimes for Law Enforcement - Training Against Hate Crimes for Police Forces), the OSCAD - Observatory for the Security Against Discriminatory Acts of the Department of Public Security coordinated a three-day joint workshop aimed at Officers and Officers of the Carabinieri and the State Police for the prevention and contrast of discriminatory offenses.

In particular, officials from the OSCE ODIHR Office (Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) and experts on hate crimes identified by the international organization oversaw the seminar's teaching.

The learners, in service at the Educational Institutes throughout the national territory, were sensitized on the specificities of the hate crimes, on their impact (on the victims, the respective communities and society as a whole) and received suggestions on how to recognize such crimes to improve the action to prevent and combat the phenomenon.

In the coming weeks, they will be, in turn, in charge of "pouring out" the contents learned to the participants of the next training courses and updating of the State Police and of the Carabinieri.

The commitment of OSCAD in training, in the collection of data and reports, has become an essential factor for improving the understanding and analysis of the discriminatory phenomenon in Italy, facilitating the work of police officers and providing an even more valid support to victims.
